The State Bank of Vietnam (SBV) on October 27
issued a Decision No 2561/QD-NHNN on keeping the key interest rate of
dong unchanged at 8 percent pa. The decision will take effect from
November 1, 2010.

Thus, this is the 12th month in a row, the base interest rate of dong
has been remained unchanged at 8 percent pa. This decision will replace
the Decision No 2281/QD-NHNN dated September 27, 2010 on dong key rate
issued by SBV's governor.
On the same day, the central bank also issued a Document No 402/TB-NHNN
that will be applied from November 1, 2010 to keep other interest rates
unchanged as compared to the previous month. In particular:
* The refinancing interest rate for credit institutions is at 8 percent pa.
* The rediscount rate for credit institutions is at 6 percent pa.
* The overnight lending rate in the inter-bank electronic payment and
the loan offset deficits in the clearing of the central bank for
commercial banks is 8 percent per year.
