Sacombank accepts quick payments via QR codes

Sacombank has officially launched Sacombank QR Pay bringing convenient, safe and quick payment to Sacombank’s cardholders (except for corporate cards) and other banks’ cardholders. Accordingly, customers use mobile devices (i.e., smartphones, tablets) to scan QR code at accepting merchants co-operating with Sacombank instead of using a card to pay with POS machine. Sacombank QR Pay also helps merchants to expand their payment options in order to increase sales and enhance the quality of customer service as well.

This payment method is initially applied for Visa cards and Sacombank is the first bank in Vietnam launching QR code payment on brand Visa cards (called mVisa). Mr. Sean Preston, Director of Visa in Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos said that “Visa is happy to co-operate with Sacombank to launch a new payment technology: Sacombank QR Pay, a mobile payment method supported by Visa’s technology. QR code payment service is suitable for the market where smartphones are popularly used and new technologies are always welcome like Vietnam. We acknowledge that this is a big opportunity to boost the development and e-payment acceptance of the market as well, especially for small businesses in remote areas.”  
In order to pay via Sacombank QR Pay with Sacombank’s cards, customers use mobile devices to access Google Play from now on or App Store from November 01st 2017 and download mCard app (please see the QR code payment guide via mCard app here). In addition to QR code payment at accepting merchants around the globe, customers can view information on promotion programs, preferences offered to Sacombank’s cardholders; check account balance and historical transactions such as date of card activation, date of card lock/unlock and more on this app.  
Besides, Sacombank launches mMerchant app which enables accepting merchants to accept payments via QR codes with Sacombank’s cards or other banks’ cards offering this payment method (please see the mMerchant guide here).  
Sacombank previously launched Sacombank contactless payment technology and payment method with Samsung Pay app that shows its effort and its pioneering in offering modern and secure payment solutions in line with the global mobile payment tendency. 

 In the first time logging in mCard app, customers have to register for an account by adding information of any payment card or Sacombank’s credit card (including card number, CVV number in the back side of the card and mobile phone number registered when card opening). The app will automatically link to all Sacombank’s cards (except for no name pre-paid card) of customers. When making a payment at accepting point of sales with Sacombank QR Pay, customers log in the mCard app and follow the steps as below:

  • Step 1: Tap “Scan QR code”.
  • Step 2: Point the device at QR code to scan.
  • Step 3: After scanning the QR code:
    • If an item “Total amount” is blank, customers will input total amount. 
    • If an item “Total amount” is filled, customers go to step 4. 
  • Step 4: Choose a card to be used to pay and tap “Continue”. 
  • Step 5: Input mPass (i.e., a password to be created when customers register for an account on mCard app) to complete the payment.
