Stay safe from scams this Tet

07/02/2024

As Tet approaches, we all look forward to indulging in shopping and dining experiences. Sacombank is here to ensure that whether you're in urban or rural locales, your transactions and payments are seamless and swift with your Sacombank card and Sacombank Pay account at your disposal.

Yet, it's crucial to remember that Tet also brings a heightened risk of scams as fraudsters prey on the less vigilant to turn a profit. To safeguard your finances, please heed the following advice:

1. BE PROACTIVE:

  • Avoid using ATMs in secluded areas.
  • Disregard any messages with suspicious links.
  • Engage in transactions and shopping only on reputable sites.
  • Conceal your CVV number and never share sensitive data like personal or account information, passwords, OTPs, card PINs, card numbers, or transaction history with anyone—this includes those claiming to be Sacombank staff or in case of mistakenly provided information.

2. SACOMBANK'S POLICIES:

  • We will never ask for personal details through links in texts or emails.
  • Our staff are not authorized to conduct cash withdrawals on a customer’s behalf outside of official STM, ATM, or POS terminals.
  • We do not solicit personal information for credit limit increases via unsolicited communications.

3. ALWAYS REFUSE IN THESE SCENARIOS:

  • If someone claiming to be a bank employee contacts you for assistance with receiving funds from abroad, domestic remittances, or to inform you about rewards/gifts, and then requests personal information or OTPs through links.
  • If purported law enforcement or regulatory bodies demand money transfers or personal details under the guise of investigation or violation notifications.
  • If individuals posing as employees from organizations or e-commerce platforms offer assistance with app installations, tax payments, or electronic identification, with the actual intention of installing malware to gain access to your device for fraudulent transactions.
  • If someone feigns urgency about a relative's hospitalization or distress to elicit money or information.
  • If someone claims to have transferred money to you by mistake and requests your help to return it.

4. IN CASE YOU INADVERTENTLY SHARE INFORMATION WITH FRAUDSTERS:

  • Immediately contact the Sacombank Hotline at 1800 5858 88 for support in securing your account/card.
  • Instantly lock your account/card by sending an SMS with the text "THE KHOA <last 4 digits of your card>" to 8149, or through the lock feature on Sacombank Pay and Sacombank eBanking apps.

We wish all our esteemed customers a joyful and secure Tet holiday!
