Through Sacombank’s automated ticketing system, bus passengers in Ho Chi Minh City now have a new payment option using NAPAS domestic cards, in addition to Mastercard and Visa, offering a more convenient and seamless travel experience.

Passengers can use credit or debit cards issued by 28 NAPAS member banks to make contactless payments on over 30 bus routes in HCMC, covering more than 600 vehicles. This open-loop, technology-based payment solution has been implemented synchronously across the city’s bus network by Sacombank – the payment acceptance provider – in collaboration with its partners.

To date, passengers can make cashless bus payments using Mastercard, Visa, and NAPAS cards. In the next phase, the automated ticketing system is expected to expand to 100 additional routes with more than 1,400 vehicles, contributing to the digitalization of HCMC’s public transportation system, following the successful implementation of the automated ticketing model for Metro Line 1.

“Sacombank is committed to integrating advanced financial technologies into customers’ daily lives. Accepting NAPAS cards across the bus system marks the next step in our strategy to expand the digital payment ecosystem. We believe this convenience will encourage more people to use public transportation, reduce private vehicle dependency, and help build a greener, smarter city,” said Mr. Pham Duc Duy, Deputy Director of Sacombank’s Retail Banking Division.

The open-loop public transportation payment solution allows passengers to use multiple payment methods – including credit cards, debit cards, and digital options such as Apple Pay, Samsung Pay, and mobile wallets – for quick and secure transactions. This enables a smoother, faster, and safer commuting experience, while promoting green mobility, reducing emissions, and protecting the environment – particularly benefiting students and office workers.
