Sacombank expands cross-border payments, connecting QR code payment in Laos

Following Thailand and Cambodia, Vietnamese citizens traveling or working in Laos can now use the Sacombank Pay app to scan QR codes for payments, eliminating the need to exchange cash for Lao Kip.

Specifically, Sacombank Pay users visiting Laos can transact via QR codes at payment acceptance points within the Lao National Payment Network (LAPNet) using funds from their Sacombank Napas domestic debit or credit cards.

By utilizing cross-border payment services, customers benefit from favorable currency exchange rates, avoiding the fees associated with converting VND to Lao Kip (LAK). This service also minimizes risks associated with carrying cash during their stay in Laos.

“Sacombank continues to lead in establishing QR code payment connections with Laos. We believe this initiative will support trade activities and foster economic and tourism growth between the two countries in the coming years,” a Sacombank representative stated.
