Metro Line 1 automated ticketing system now accepts NAPAS cards
14/02/2025Under this system, metro passengers can use credit cards or domestic payment cards from 25 NAPAS member organizations to make contactless payments at metro ticket gates. Passengers simply tap their NAPAS card on the entry gate device (tap-in) and, upon completing their journey, tap the card again at the exit gate (tap-out) to finalize the payment transaction. This payment solution has been synchronously deployed across the Ben Thanh - Suoi Tien Metro line by Sacombank—the entity responsible for payment acceptance—alongside its technology partners.
To date, cashless payment options for Metro Line 1 include Mastercard, NAPAS cards, and QR codes via the HCMC Metro HURC app. In the upcoming phase, the automated ticketing system on Metro Line 1 is expected to expand acceptance to additional card types such as Visa, JCB, UnionPay, American Express, and more.
The Open-loop technology-based public transport fare collection solution allows passengers to use credit cards, payment cards, Apple Pay, Samsung Pay, or e-wallets for seamless payments. This contributes to building a transportation network where all transactions operate smoothly, quickly, and securely, delivering a modern payment experience for passengers. It also promotes green mobility and sustainable environmental protection, particularly for young people and office workers.
Until the end of June 2025, Sacombank is offering a VND 50,000 incentive for customers who open a Sacombank Mastercard Metro Pass card at transaction points, online via Sacombank Pay, or through the HCMC Metro HURC app. With the Sacombank Mastercard Metro Pass payment card, customers can tap to pay cashlessly when using the metro, as well as access other conveniences such as cash withdrawals, transfers, and payments for everyday shopping as usual. |
