Mr. Hà Văn Trung, Permanent Deputy CEO of SACOMBANK (fourth from left), welcomed a delegation of distinguished guests visiting the SACOMBANK booth, including Mr. Nguyễn Văn Thắng – Member of the Party Central Committee and Deputy Prime Minister; Mr. Phạm Đức Ấn – Member of the Party Central Committee and Governor of the State Bank of Vietnam; Mr. Nguyễn Lộc Hà – Member of the Standing Committee of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee and Permanent Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee; Mr. Bùi Tá Hoàng Vũ – Member of the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee and Director of the Department of Industry and Trade; Mr. Phạm Anh Tuấn – Director General of the Payment Department of the State Bank of Vietnam; Mr. Lê Thế Chữ – Editor-in-Chief of Tuoi Tre Newspaper; and other delegates. At the booth, SACOMBANK showcased its comprehensive digital financial ecosystem, seamlessly integrating banking, investment, insurance, and digital banking services.
In recent years, Vietnam has consistently ranked among the region’s most attractive destinations thanks to its diverse natural landscapes, rich cultural heritage, friendly people, and continually improving tourism services.
At the same time, the development of cross-border digital payment solutions has further enhanced Vietnam’s appeal on the international tourism map. Allowing visitors to make payments in Vietnam using the financial or banking applications they already use at home helps remove barriers to shopping, dining, and accessing services. This convenience encourages spending during their stay and contributes to higher revenues for local businesses, particularly small and medium-sized enterprises.
Currently, SACOMBANK offers cross-border payment services connecting Vietnam with China, South Korea, Thailand, Cambodia, and Laos, while actively pursuing expansion into India, Japan, Singapore, and other Asian markets.

Mr. Phạm Đức Duy, Deputy Director of SACOMBANK’s Retail Banking Division, introduced SACOMBANK’s pioneering payment solutions to the high-level delegation, including the Open-loop public transportation payment solution, the VIETQRGlobal cross-border payment solution, and payment solutions supporting business households.
At the Digital Finance Festival 2026, SACOMBANK introduced an interactive cross-border payment experience zone where visitors could explore the technology firsthand. Tourists were able to make payments by scanning QR codes with their domestic banking applications for purchases, services, and travel expenses in Vietnam, eliminating the need to carry large amounts of cash.

The VIETQRGlobal cross-border QR payment solution between Vietnam, China, and South Korea was pioneered by SACOMBANK in collaboration with NAPAS in April 2026 under the “Vietnam Inbound” model. Under this initiative, Chinese visitors to Vietnam can pay using Alipay or UnionPay, while Korean tourists can use the Purple GLN application to scan VIETQRGlobal QR codes at participating merchants nationwide, including shopping malls, retail outlets, restaurants, and tourist attractions.

SACOMBANK is actively expanding the VIETQRGlobal acceptance network across major tourism destinations and locations with high concentrations of international visitors, including Sa Pa, Da Nang, Hoi An, and Phu Quoc. For visitors from China and South Korea alone, the Bank expects the number of cross-border QR acceptance points to reach several thousand by the end of 2026.
Later this year, SACOMBANK and NAPAS will complete the “Vietnam Outbound” connection with China and South Korea. Once operational, SACOMBANK NAPAS cardholders will be able to use the SACOMBANK PAY app to scan QR codes and make payments at participating merchants in these countries without exchanging currency or carrying cash, delivering a seamless, convenient, and cost-effective payment experience.

Foreign customers can open bank account and register for the SACOMBANK PAY app for use in Vietnam.
Within Southeast Asia, SACOMBANK has already offered two-way cross-border QR payment services for several years between Vietnam, Thailand, Laos, and Cambodia. Visitors from these countries can use VIETQRGlobal when traveling in Vietnam, while Vietnamese tourists, business travelers, and visitors to Thailand, Laos, and Cambodia can make payments through the SACOMBANK PAY app without cash or complicated payment procedures.

SACOMBANK is working with partners to further expand the VIETQRGlobal service to additional countries, including India.
VIETQRGlobal creates new business opportunities for millions of retailers, merchants, and enterprises in Vietnam, especially as visitor arrivals from China, South Korea, Laos, Cambodia, Thailand, and other markets continue to grow strongly.
Merchants receive funds instantly upon successful payment transactions. The system processes payments quickly and securely according to high security standards, while optimizing costs and saving time for users. Businesses that install SACOMBANK POS devices can also enjoy attractive transaction fee incentives.

The SACOMBANK booth at Digital Finance Day 2026 – Ting Ting Day! will continue welcoming visitors and offering interactive experiences until the evening of June 7.
The name VIETQRGlobal was officially selected to strengthen the visibility of Vietnam’s payment ecosystem on the regional digital payments landscape while making it easier for international visitors to recognize and use the service at QR-enabled merchants.
SACOMBANK’s role as one of the pioneering banks participating in the implementation of VIETQRGlobal demonstrates its proactive investment in technology infrastructure, international connectivity capabilities, and long-term vision for cross-border digital payments.
Beyond delivering a more convenient payment experience for international visitors to Vietnam, the solution also contributes to greater regional trade, tourism, and consumer spending, marking another important milestone in SACOMBANK’s journey to expand its digital payment ecosystem across Asia.
